9. SCORING
9.1 The
Individual Racing Championship:
(a) The Low
Point Scoring
System
of
RRS Appendix A
will apply.
(b) The series will consist of up to 12 races, of
which 3 shall be completed to constitute a Championship. While racing in
divisions, only races which have been completed for all four divisions
will count.
(c) Each boat’s
total score for the Championship will be the sum of her scores for all
races
excluding:
·
When 5 or more races have been completed, her worst score.
·
When 10 or more races have been completed, her two worst scores.
9.2 The
Team Racing: RRS Appendix D will apply.
10. SAFETY
10.1
In addition to IODA
Class Rules 4.2 (a) and (b), 4.3(a) and (b), each boat shall have on
board a secured paddle with a blade surface of not less than 0.025
square meters,
and each competitor shall carry a whistle
attached to his/her clothing with a lanyard.
Competitors not complying with this instruction will be penalized
with
5 points for each race of the day on which they failed to observe this
instruction.
10.2 Adequate personal buoyancy shall be worn at all times while
afloat, except temporarily to add or remove clothing. Wet suites and dry
suits do not constitute adequate personal buoyancy. If the buoyancy
device is of an inflatable type, it shall be inflated at all times while
afloat. This changes RRS 40.
11. MEASUREMENT
11.1 Competitors are allowed to use only one hull, dagger board,
rudder (with tiller and extension) mast, boom, sprit and sail during the
Regatta. These parts of equipment will be measured
according to the
Measurement
Regulations, and approved to be complying with Class Rules by the
Measurement Committee.
11.2 Substitution of damaged equipment may be permitted after
the approval
of
the Race Committee according to
the Sailing Instructions 21.3.
11.3 Charterboats may carry national letters or sail
numbers in contravention of the Class Rules. The
national letters to be carried shall be those of the country entering
the chartered boat.
12. LIABILITY
12.1
Participants compete entirely at their own risk and responsibility.
12.2 The Organizing Authority and any other party involved in
the organization of the Championship accept no liability whatsoever for
any injury, damage, loss or claim, whether personal or material,
incurred by or inflicted to participants before, during or after the
Championship.
12.3 Competitors and support staff will be required to sign a
liability waiver.
13. INSURANCE
The Organizing
Authority is seeking in the local market some form of third-party
liability insurance cover, appropriate for the event.
14. ENTRY FEES
14.1 Entry fee (including accommodation and meals for the period
October 29 to November 6) are US$370
for sailors, team leaders, country representatives and coaches, and are
payable in US$. Late entry fee: US$470.
14.2 Preliminary entry fees,
US$150 per sailors and officials are due not later than July 31, 2005.
The remaining entry fee, US$220 per sailors and official are due not
later than September 30, 2005.
15. CHARTERBOATS
15.1
All boats entered must be chartered from the Organization Authority,
which will allocate approximately 85 Lange (2004 and 2005) and 20 XSP
(2005) according to a system approved by the international jury.
Charterboats (without sail) will be available from 29 October – 5
November inclusive at a charter fee of US$300 and damage deposit of
US$100. Late entry charter fee: US$400. Charterboats may be chartered
from 25 October at US$30 per day for each day prior to 29 October.
15.2 Each charterboat will be equipped as follows:
(a) one hull with three buoyancy units
(b) one set of foils (dagger and rudder with tiller & tiller
extension)
(c) one set of spar (mast, boom, and sprit)
(d) one mainsheet with two blocks (one ratchet) and one
painter
(e) one set of padded toe straps
(f) one bailer
15.3
Sails and
sail ties will not be supplied.
Competitors may bring and use their own foils, spars, blocks and lines,
if they prefer.
15.4 Charterboat fee and damage deposit are due not later than
July 31, 2005. Other terms of use of charterboats, charter fees, damage
deposits, etc. will be advised.
16. SUPPORT BOATS
16.1 Team Leaders or
Coaches
may use a support boat which will be shared by two teams.
16.2 Team support boats will only be permitted subject to the
following conditions:
(a) The presence of support boats shall be reported to the
Race Committee and each
support boat shall display a number
flag supplied by the Race Committee.
(b) The presence in the boat of the
Team
Leaders/Coaches
from
2
or more different teams approved by the Race Committee. If Thailand has
two coaches, they may not share a support boat.
(c) Without permission by the Race Committee, no more than one
person
from
each team shall be on the water in
the
support
boat at the same time.
(d) All support boats
shall comply with
the rules established by the Race
Committee.
(e) Fuel and other consumables will be paid by the teams using
the support boat.
16.3 No
other individual team support boats shall be used.
16.4 Support boats will be available from 29 October – 5 November
inclusive for a fee of US$200 per team and damage deposit of US$100 per
team. Late booking of support boat fee: US$300 per team.
16.5 Reservations for support boats must be made before July 31,
2005, and support boat fee and damage deposit are due not later than
September 30, 2005.
17. PAYMENT
INSTRUCTIONS
Entry
fees, charterboat fees, damage deposits and charter support boat fees
shall be paid by bank transfer in US$. Any bank fees will be charged to
the team. The name and bank account of the beneficiary is as follows:

18. ACCOMMODATION
18.1
Official
Accommodation for sailors and
officials will be
at the Island View Hotel, 5 minutes walk from the venue.
18.2 Packed lunches will be provided for each team.
18.3 The first official meal will be the dinner on October 29,
and the final official meal will be the breakfast on
November 6.
18.4 A damage deposit
per room
may be charged by the hotel and will be refunded if no damage has
occurred.
The damage deposit and other extra charges will be paid directly to the
hotel upon arrival. Major credit
cards are accepted.
18.5 Special food can be arranged if requested in advance.
19. EARLY ARRIVALS
Teams wishing to
arrive before the official arrival day should contact the JSST in order
to book accommodation. The daily fee for extra day will be advised.
20. SPECTATOR BOAT
The organizing committee may provide a general spectator boat for team
officials and families. Cost to be advised.
21. SUPPORTERS
The organizers will
provide information to assist supports in booking hotels and local
travel arrangements.
22.
SAILING CONDITIONS
The average air
temperature is 20ºC–30ºC
and prevailing wind is
12-18 knots (NE monsoon).
23. SOCIAL EVENTS
To enhance the
friendship between the participants and to make their stay in
Thailand
more enjoyable, appropriate social events will be organized.
24. TRANSPORTATION
Each team is
responsible for its local transportation. The organizers will provide
information on local transportation, and will assist in booking local
transportation from and to Bangkok International airport.
